Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: July 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") explains what you can and can't do when using Clearwater's websites, apps, and services (the "Services"). It applies to everyone who uses Clearwater — customers ordering water, drivers delivering it, and depot and business partners. It works alongside our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy; if you violate this AUP, we may suspend or terminate your access.
The short version: use Clearwater to move clean water safely and honestly. Don't use it to harm people, break the law, endanger the water supply, or abuse our systems.
1. Lawful Use
You agree to use the Services only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- Violate any applicable Ghanaian law or regulation, or any local ordinance governing water, transport, or commerce.
- Use the Services to facilitate fraud, money laundering, or any other illegal activity.
- Order, deliver, or transport anything other than water through the platform, or use water tankers for any purpose we haven't authorized.
- Infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
2. Water Safety & Quality
Clean, safe water is the whole point of Clearwater. Whether you deliver, produce, or handle water on the platform, you must not:
- Deliver water from an unapproved source, or misrepresent where water came from or its quality.
- Tamper with, dilute, contaminate, or adulterate water at any point in the delivery chain.
- Use tanks, hoses, or equipment that aren't clean and fit for potable water, or that have been used to carry non-water substances.
- Bypass or falsify any quality-control check, seal, or verification step.
3. Honest Accounts & Transactions
Keep it honest. You must not:
- Create an account using false information, or impersonate another person, driver, or business.
- Manipulate pricing, orders, ratings, promo credits, or refunds — including creating fake orders or accounts to exploit incentives.
- Use another person's payment method or Mobile Money account without authorization.
- Attempt to reverse, dispute, or claim a refund for water you actually received.
4. Respect for People
Everyone on Clearwater — customers, drivers, support staff, and partners — deserves to be treated with respect. You must not:
- Harass, threaten, abuse, or discriminate against anyone using the Services.
- Endanger the safety of a driver, customer, or member of the public.
- Collect, share, or misuse another user's personal information, including their location or contact details.
5. System & Security
Don't attack or abuse our technology. You must not:
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, system, or data.
- Introduce malware, or interfere with, disrupt, or overload the Services or their infrastructure.
- Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Services except as we expressly permit.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from our apps, except where the law says you can.
- Use bots, scripts, or automated means to interact with the Services in ways we haven't authorized.
6. Reporting Violations
If you see something that violates this policy — unsafe water, an abusive user, a security issue — please tell us at ryan@clearwaterafrica.com. We take reports seriously, and reporting a genuine safety or security concern will never count against you.
7. Enforcement
Violating this AUP may result in warnings, removal of content, suspension, or permanent termination of your access — with or without notice, depending on the severity. Serious violations, especially those that endanger water safety or public health, may be reported to the relevant authorities. We decide how to respond on a case-by-case basis, and nothing here limits any other rights we have under our Terms & Conditions.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Acceptable Use Policy as our Services evolve. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above, and where appropriate, notify you through the app or by email. Continuing to use Clearwater after a change means you accept the updated policy.
